Overview

Math of Money respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.Math of Money is operated by S M Ariful Islam Shawon, an individual, who is responsible for the data described here. Contact: contact@mathofmoney.com.

What Data We Collect

Calculator Inputs

Calculations run in your browser. Your inputs (loan amount, salary, age, etc.) are kept in the page address so you can bookmark or share it, and are not sent to our servers—unless you save a calculation to your account or create a short share link, as described below.

Google Sign-In

Signing in is optional and only needed to save calculations to an account. When you sign in with Google:

• We receive and store your Google account name, email address, and profile picture.
• We only ask Google for your basic profile and email. We do not request access to your Gmail, Calendar, Drive, or other services, and we never post anything.
• The sign-in tokens Google issues are stored encrypted and are not used to access your Google account.
• You can revoke Math of Money's access at any time in your Google account settings.

Saved Calculations and Comparisons

When you save a calculation while signed in, we store the calculator page, your inputs, the name and notes you give it, a summary of the results, and when it was saved. Saved comparisons store the same kind of information for each scenario. They are linked to your account, and only you can see them. You can rename or delete them at any time from your dashboard.

Calculator Defaults

If you set default preferences in Settings (for example, your state or the tax year to use), we store them with your account so calculators can be pre-filled for you. You can change or clear them at any time.

Sign-In Sessions

To keep you signed in, we store a session record with your IP address and browser user agent. It is deleted when you sign out and otherwise expires 30 days after you last used the site. We use it only to keep your account secure.

Short Share Links

When you use "Share link", we may create a short link (such as /s/abc123/) that stores only the calculator page and its inputs—no name, email, or other personal data, and it isn't linked to you or your account. Anyone with the link can open the calculation, and short links do not expire, so avoid sharing inputs you consider sensitive.

Data Stored in Your Browser

Some features store data only in your browser's local storage, on your device. It is never sent to us unless noted:

• Calculations saved without signing in (up to 20). If you later sign in, you can import them into your account.
• Comparison scenarios you add on a calculator page.
• A signed-in hint (your first name and profile picture) so pages can show "My calculations" in the header. It is removed when you sign out.
• Your cookie choices.

You can remove all of these by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our site:

• Pages visited, time on page, calculator used (not input values).
• Device type, browser, approximate location (country/region only).
• Traffic source (search, referral, direct).

This data helps us improve our calculators and fix bugs. We do not sell analytics data to third parties.

Advertising Cookies

Math of Money uses Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies to:

• Show ads relevant to your interests.
• Measure ad performance and prevent fraud.
• Build user interest profiles across sites you visit.

Cookies

We use cookies for:

• Essential: Keeping you signed in (secure, HttpOnly session cookies set only if you sign in) and security during sign-in.
• Analytics: Google Analytics (anonymous, aggregated usage).
• Advertising: Google AdSense and partner cookies for ad targeting.

You can manage Analytics and Advertising cookies independently using the "Cookie settings" or "Your Privacy Choices" links in the footer of every page.

US State Privacy Rights

California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal data we collect and how we use it.
• Delete your personal data by deleting your account in settings.
• Opt-out of "sale or sharing" of your data for targeted advertising—click "Your Privacy Choices" (Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information) in the footer or contact us.
• Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Other State Laws

Similar privacy rights apply in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. We honor all state privacy requests equally.

Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends GPC, we automatically treat it as a request to opt out of the "sale or sharing" of your personal information for advertising — our cookie banner disables advertising cookies and keeps them off regardless of any other choice you make in that session.

Exporting Your Data

Signed-in users can download their profile, saved calculations, and comparisons as a JSON file with "Export my data" in Settings. To request any other data we hold about you, contact us.

Data Deletion

You can delete individual saved calculations and comparisons from your dashboard. To delete your account and all associated data:

1. Sign in to Math of Money.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Click "Delete my account".
4. Confirm deletion (this action is permanent).

Your profile, sessions, saved calculations, comparisons, and preferences are deleted from our database immediately. Copies may remain in database backups for up to 30 days before they are overwritten, except where we are required by law to keep them. Short share links are not linked to your account, so they are not affected; data stored in your browser can be removed by clearing this site's data.

Children's Privacy

Math of Money is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
